PAS issues gag order on members over party ties issue

PETALING JAYA: All PAS leaders and members are not allowed to make any statements or comments about the latest developments involving the party's ties with others without permission.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the party asked its leaders and members to refrain from making such statements on any media or communication channel unless given special permission.

"Everyone has been asked to remain calm and leave such matters to the party president and party leadership, who will manage this situation carefully as soon as possible," he said in a statement on Friday (May 22).

Takiyuddin's statement comes after PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party would review its relationship with Bersatu following several disagreements within Perikatan Nasional.

Responding to this, Bersatu information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said Bersatu viewed Abdul Hadi's statement seriously.

Tun Faisal then added that all matters concerning Perikatan, which both parties are part of, should be examined comprehensively in the spirit of comradeship, mutual understanding and shared responsibility to strengthen the coalition's unity.
