Sabah cops on the hunt for drug trafficking suspect believed to have fled to Sarawak

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police are hunting for a key suspect in a drug trafficking case in the state capital, after he is suspected to have fled to neighbouring Sarawak.

Police identified the suspect as Eric Leon Frankey, 27, whose last known address was in Taman Sri Kepayan here.

Police investigations so far traced the suspect entering the neighbouring state after a vehicle believed to have been used by him was found in the border town of Lawas on May 12.

Sabah Police Comm Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the state’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) is now working with Sarawak’s Criminal Investigation Department to track down the suspect.

“The man is wanted to assist investigations into a drug case reported in Penampang and is believed to be linked to drug trafficking and smuggling activities in Sabah. Efforts to locate him are being intensified, and police do not rule out the possibility that he is still moving actively to avoid detection,” Comm Jauteh said in a statement.

Earlier, NCID Sabah issued a notice stating that the man is wanted in connection with case number Penampang/000821/2026.

Investigating officer Inspector Jocelyn and police are urging members of the public with information on the suspect to come forward to assist investigations.

Any information can be channelled via 088-454650, 088-454222 or directly to the investigating officer at 012-8401695. The public may also provide information at any nearby police station.
