KOTA KINABALU: Police have seized over RM3.25mil worth of drugs and arrested 10 suspects following a series of drug busts statewide.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the ongoing aggressive operations saw police confiscating a total of 63kg of syabu, 31kg of THC (cannabis) liquid, 1kg of ecstasy pills and 4.49g of weed.

He said the first arrest on May 3 involved a 26-year-old man in Taman Heng Long, Semporna, where 15 boxes of vape and pods totalling 10,000 cartridges, as well as two gallons of blue liquid, believed to contain THC were seized.

“The seized items, weighing about 31kg, were worth about RM93,000,” he said in a press conference yesterday.

Comm Jauteh said several follow up raids in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau saw the arrest of three people, comprising a woman and two men, aged between 38 and 52.

“The three suspects are believed to be involved in the sales and delivery of vape and THC liquid,” he said.

The second operation involved a syabu and ecstasy distribution syndicate in which six people were nabbed in Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Sipitang.

The first raid on May 11 was carried out at about 7pm at the parking area of a commercial centre.

“Two men were arrested and checks in their car led to the seizure of 2kg of syabu.

“A total of 50 more packages of syabu, weighing at 50.95kg, were later seized from a rented room at Plaza Millenium in Penampang.

“Police also confiscated another 10kg of syabu and two packets of ecstasy powder in another rented room nearby,” he said.

Comm Jauteh said three other suspects including a woman were later nabbed in follow-up operations.

He said the woman is believed to be in a relationship with the kingpin, who is still at large.

“We also detained the gang leader’s sidekick while he was trying to flee to Miri at the CIQ post in Sindumin.

“The total seizure is about 63.18kg of syabu, ecstasy powder and ketamine, valued at around RM3.16mil,” he said.

All the cases will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
