SHAH ALAM: Any leader or member who chooses to no longer remain loyal to PKR and acts in ways that weaken the party must take full responsibility for their decision, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
The PKR vice-president said the party had provided the platform and opportunity for the individuals concerned to build their names and hold respected positions within the party leadership
"The party is very clear; anyone who takes steps to no longer remain loyal to the party or take actions that damage and diminish the party’s strength must take responsibility because this party is the one that elevated you.
"I was among the ‘suspects’ during the Sheraton Move, but I made the brave and firm decision to remain with the party alongside other leaders,” he said at a press conference during the 2026 Selangor Telecommunications Infrastructure Vandalism Prevention Campaign here on Tuesday (May 19).
The Selangor Mentri Besar said this in response to calls for Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail and Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung to vacate their seats after attending a campaign programme by former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli and former Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who have also quit PKR.
Commenting on Selangor’s position as a PKR stronghold, Amirudin said the party was not taking lightly any changes in the current political landscape in the state.
"At this point, we must make the right decisions and not take things lightly because this party was established on the people’s strong spirit and has long experience, including facing various challenges.
"Political dynamics must be examined by all leaders by taking into account all aspects and not underestimating opponents, allies or new elements such as the party joined by Rafizi and Nik. We will see its impact,” he said.
Amirudin also said the maturity developed through decades of navigating a shared political platform with Pakatan Harapan had shaped a strong political understanding.
In this regard, he reminded the entire leadership line-up to be prepared to formulate the right strategic approach in facing the people’s choices in the future.- Bernama
