Shafie attended Kaamatan festival purely for celebrations, says Kitingan

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was present at the Kaamatan festival purely for celebrations, says Sabah STAR president Datuk Seri Dr Jefffrey Kitingan.

This comes after Shafie's presence at the Keningau Kaamatan event on Sunday (May 17) sparked speculation that the two parties were forming an electoral pact for the upcoming general election.

Kitingan said the presence of leaders from different parties reflected the themes of this year’s harvest festival, "Harvesting Unity" and "Celebrating Harmony".

“Isn’t Kaamatan for all?” Kitingan prompted.

Earlier, Shafie had thanked Kitingan for his invitation to the Kaamatan celebrations.

“Kaamatan has always been a space for us to gather, meet old friends and celebrate the culture and traditions that unite Sabahans regardless of background,” he said on his Facebook page.
