Anwar acts on p-hailing riders’ struggles

JOHOR BARU: After hearing about their plight, the government is considering increasing the monthly Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) fuel quota for p-hailing riders to 250 litres, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said he would bring the matter up at the next National Economic Action Council meeting.

“At the meeting on Tuesday, I will raise the matter for discussion since they (p-hailing riders) only get 200 litres, the same as the rest of us.

“I will remind Fahmi (Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil), and we will look for a way to increase it by at least another 50 litres, making it 250 litres,” he said at an event at Taman Desa Mutiara People’s Housing Project (PPR).

Anwar said he decided to do so after speaking to several p-hailing riders present at the programme.

“I decided to do this after hearing what they go through, even though they didn’t ask for it,” he said.

The Budi95 fuel quota was previously set at 300 litres per month but was reduced to 200 litres from April 1, a move aimed at managing fuel subsidy spending amid the Middle East conflict.

On a separate matter, the Prime Minister also announced the immediate approval of a RM1mil allocation to fund urgent repair works at the PPR.

“I am approving RM1mil first for now, and I hope the community can discuss what needs to be prioritised.

“We will fix urgent issues, like broken doors,” he said.

Anwar also instructed his officers to expedite assistance to repair damaged toilet facilities at SK Bukit Mutiara after the matter was raised by residents.
