Pangkor boat tragedy: Navy finds body of 11th victim


IPOH: One of the four remaining victims from the boat that sank in waters near Pangkor Island has been found.

A Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) spokesman said the victim, believed to be a man, was found by the Royal Malaysian Navy at 9.27am on Friday (May 15).

"The victim was found 5.6 nautical miles from the island," he said in a statement.

"The body was brought back to shore at 10.20am."

On Monday (May 11), a boat with 37 undocumented Indonesian migrants capsized while on its way to Malaysia.

Authorities have rescued 23 victims, who are currently being detained.

Search and rescue operations have found now found 11 bodies, with three more yet to be recovered.
