KUALA LUMPUR: The retail prices of unsubsidised RON95 petrol and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will be reduced by 15sen and 30sen, respectively, while RON97 will drop 20sen to RM4.70 per litre from May 14-20.
The Finance Ministry said, in a statement Wednesday (May 13) that the retail price of unsubsidised RON95 is set at RM3.87 per litre compared to RM4.02 previously, while diesel in Peninsular Malaysia has dropped to RM4.87 per litre compared to RM5.17 last week.
During the same period, the government maintains targeted subsidised prices for the public and certain sectors, covering RON95 petrol (under Budi95) at RM1.99 per litre, diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan at RM2.15 per litre, the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) at RM2.05 per litre and the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) at RM2.15 per litre.
The ministry said that price adjustments are based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism formula, which takes into account the average price of the previous week.
"Petroleum prices remain above US$100 per barrel as the Middle East conflict remains unresolved.
The government also called on the public to continue using fuel prudently to help safeguard the nation's supply stability.
