CLASSICAL Indian music fans in the country were treated to world-class Carnatic music performances during the Malaysia International Carnatic Music Festival (MYICMF) 2026, held recently, Makkal Osai reported.
The event was organised by the Sugam Foundation and held at the Malaysia Tourism Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
Event director and Sugam Foundation founder Sujitra Jayaseelan said Carnatic music still captivates the local Indian community, and they share this link with their roots in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
Acclaimed Indian Carnatic singer Neyveli Santhanagopalan and US-born and raised vocalist and musician Sandeep Narayan headlined the festival.
The two-day event also featured talks, dialogue sessions, performances and children’s events.
Special guests include Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry deputy secretary-general (management) Datuk Surrendren Sathasivam.
