KUALA LUMPUR: An Indonesian couple has been arrested over a burglary at a house in Taman Melawati, Gombak, involving losses of about RM800,000, police revealed.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairul Anuar Khalid said the husband and wife were picked up on Saturday.
“The case is still under investigation,” he said yesterday.
Police earlier said the incident was known at 11.30pm last Thursday when the occupant returned home and found the living room and several bedrooms ransacked.
Entry was believed to be by prying open the grille and back door.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary.
In another case, Kajang police arrested two men believed to be involved in a cable theft incident at Taman Bukit Mewah.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said the arrests were made in Kajang and Bandar Baru Bangi between 8.15pm and 10pm on Saturday.
He said the suspects, a 29-year-old burger seller and a 43-year-old unemployed man, had previous criminal records.
“Both suspects have been remanded until May 12. Police also seized a vehicle believed to have been used during the incident,” he said, adding that police were looking for another suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 235 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
