Cops bust gang linked to multiple Cheras house break-ins, six nabbed

KUALA LUMPUR: A house break-in gang was busted with the arrest of six suspects, including three foreigners, following a series of raids around the city.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rosdi Daud said the suspects comprised of two Myanmar men, an Indonesian woman, two local men and a local woman aged between their 20s and 30s.

He said the suspects were arrested during three separate raids conducted on June 6.

"We also seized various items believed to be stolen property and tools used in the crimes, including six luxury watches, seven branded handbags, seven mobile phones, a gaming laptop, a 25-inch parang and a pair of gloves," he said in a statement on Saturday (June 20).

Background checks revealed that one of the local suspects has a criminal record for eight offences.

"Initial investigations revealed that one of the suspects from Myanmar is believed to have been involved in at least six other housebreaking cases in Cheras," he added.

The arrests stemmed from investigations into a housebreaking case reported in Taman Bukit Cheras on April 25, ACP Mohd Rosdi said.

"In the incident, the victim suffered losses exceeding RM13,000 involving jewellery, electronic gadgets and cash in various foreign currencies.

"All six suspects have been remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house break-in,” he said.
