GEORGE TOWN: Imagine Albert Einstein talking about how stars are formed and how they die and Isaac Newton answering tough questions on science.

That is what you get at the AI Scientist programme at the Tech Dome Penang.

The ideas and theories of these legendary scientists are being brought to life at an AI-powered interactive exhibition there.

The permanent exhibition is aimed at strengthening science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education while nurturing future artificial intelligence (AI) talent.

The exhibition is expected to see more than 100,000 visitors annually, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Chang Lih Kang.

“In today’s technology-driven world, the ability to understand and master science and technology is no longer an advantage but a necessity.

“The exhibition makes AI more accessible and science learning more engaging, relevant and easier to understand.

“Efforts such as this are important in producing a generation that is not only technologically literate but also capable of becoming creators and leaders of innovation in the future,” he said at the launch of the AI Scientist programme at Tech Dome Penang yesterday.

Chang, who also officiated the launch of the AI Education Hub – a programme for schools – in 2024, said the latest initiative marked another step forward in expanding AI learning opportunities.

The ministry, he said, would continue supporting initiatives that strengthen STEM education and contribute to developing skilled talent, particularly in AI, which is rapidly becoming a major driver of the global digital economy.

Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo said the AI Scientist initiative has made science learning more interesting, easier to understand and relevant to current developments.

“It is important to nurture a future generation that not only understands technology, but is also capable of using it creatively and innovatively,” he said.

Also present were Tech Dome Penang chief executive officer Khoo Boo Wooi and Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry secretary-general Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 7pm every day.

The entry fee is RM28 for adults is RM16 for children.
