KUALA LUMPUR: Former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom is expected to be charged at the Sessions Court here on Monday (Sept 14) over matters linked to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).
According to a check of the court system, Jamil Khir is scheduled to be charged at 9am before judge Rosli Ahmad at Criminal Sessions Court 8.
On Thursday, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman was reported as saying that the commission had recommended three charges against the former minister under Section 403 of the Penal Code for dishonest misappropriation of property.
Jamil Khir was released on bail last Tuesday after being remanded for seven days from Sept 2.
He was previously reported to have been arrested at 4.30pm on Sept 2 after arriving at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to give a statement to assist investigations into findings contained in the RCI report.
The report, which was made public on July 29, detailed various weaknesses in TH’s management and operations between 2014 and 2020, and identified several problematic investments requiring forensic audits.
It also highlighted suspicious transactions and the alleged concealment of information. - Bernama
