Police hunt for suspect after teen girl injured in Penampang


KOTA KINABALU: Police have launched a search for a man believed to have injured a teenage student in an incident at Kg Nosoob in Penampang, near here.

"Police teams are now at the scene to carry out further investigation, including a team from the Forensic State Police Contingent Headquarters,” said Penampang district police chief Supt Sammy Newton on Thursday (May 7).

It is understood that the victim, a secondary school student, was taken to the hospital for further treatment for an unspecified injury.

DCP Sammy advised the public to share any information with the police to assist the investigations.

He also urged the public not to speculate about the incident.

The alleged incident went viral on social media on Thursday.

Some netizens claimed that the girl sustained a neck injury caused by a sharp object.
