No dissolution for Johor assembly yet

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor legislative assembly will not be dissolved during the current sitting, said Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

His announcement came amid speculation that the state assembly would be dissolved to pave the way for the Johor Election.

“There are many more initiatives and programmes that we are planning to implement.

“The state assembly will not be dissolved for now, so do not worry, relax, and continue working and serving the rakyat,” he told the 56-seat state assembly sitting in Kota Iskandar here on Thursday (May 7).

Earlier, he had the hall on the edge of their seats when he touched on the subject.

“The election fever is strongly felt during this sitting, as some assemblymen have started apologising to others and thanking those who assisted them in their speeches, as if this is the final sitting before the election,” he said.

The last Johor Election was held in March 2022, and the term is slated to end in April next year.
