Knife-wielding woman at street fest charged


KUALA LUMPUR: The woman caught brandishing a knife at the Rain Rave Water Music Festival has been charged, says Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam.

She was charged under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

“She will be sent to Hospital Bahagia as she is suspected to have mental health issues, and is currently remanded at the Kajang women’s prison,” he said when contacted yesterday.

It was learnt that the court has set June 6 for the next case mention.

Various media reports said a woman was restrained by members of the public after she was seen carrying a knife during the open air festival in Kuala Lumpur last Saturday.

In a widely shared video, a man can be seen attempting to disarm the woman.

Several others, including security personnel, joined in to restrain her until the police arrived.
