Rural schools to receive safety upgrades

IPOH: Public schools, especially those in rural areas, will continue to be enhanced to ensure they are safe and conducive to learning, says Fadlina Sidek (pic).

The Education Minister said a conducive and safe environment will have an impact on learning and improving the quality of national education.

She said this was evident as the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results of schools in rural areas, particularly in Sarawak and Perak, have seen improvements.

“The rural areas have shown very good improvements, and certainly, we are also grateful that issues related to infrastructure, dilapidated buildings and schools are given attention by the Madani government.

“(With better facilities) Our teachers can implement teaching and learning more effectively,” she said in a press conference after the handover ceremony of the new state Education Department complex in Meru Raya here yesterday.

“Together with the Public Works Department, we want to continue to ensure that our schools are safe, conducive and become among the best facilities, especially to improve the quality of national education,” she added.

“Overall, the SPM results have indeed improved, and we are proud of our children.

“And whatever weaknesses and issues that occurred, we will improve upon them and implement interventions as soon as possible,” she said.

On the new RM58mil complex, Fadhlina said construction began around 2022 and was completed this March.

“It is expected to be fully operational in June.

“Hopefully, the presence of this majestic building will be able to encourage better improvements to education in Perak,” she added.
