Ketereh murder case focuses on teen suspects after two released on police bail


PETALING JAYA: A couple in their 60s who were remanded to assist in the investigation into the murder of a female college student in Ketereh on Friday (May 1) have been released on police bail.

Kota Baru OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azmir Damiri said the couple, aged 60 and 66, were freed before their remand period was due to end on Monday.

“We are now focusing our investigation on two 19-year-old suspects,” he said, as reported by Sinar Harian on Sunday.

It is understood that the couple, who are husband and wife, are the parents of one of the suspects.

On Saturday, the couple were remanded for three days, while two teenage boys were remanded for a week to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The victim, a 19-year-old student from Perak, was found with 61 stab wounds at Jalan Kampung Kubang Kiat, Ketereh, at about 12.30am on Friday.

A post-mortem confirmed that the victim sustained 61 stab wounds to her body and face, and died from multiple stab wounds to the chest.
