Four suspects remanded over case of body with 61 stab wounds


KOTA BHARU: Two men have been remanded for seven days, while two senior citizens, including a woman, have been remanded for three days to assist in the investigation into the murder of a 19-year-old female college student, who sustained 61 stab wounds near a rice field in Kampung Simah, Ketereh, on Friday (May 1).

The remand order against the two men, each aged 19, and the 66-year-old male and 60-year-old female senior citizens was issued by Magistrate Amirul Asyraf Abdul Rasid at the Magistrate's Court here, starting on Saturday (May 2), to enable the investigation to be conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Earlier, all the suspects arrived at the court at 8.40 am, wearing lock-up clothes, handcuffed and accompanied by police personnel.

On Friday, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat announced that the body of a female college student was found with 61 stab wounds on the road near a padi field in the village.

He said initial investigations found that the victim, who was from Perak, was believed to have been killed at another location before her body was dumped in the area.

The autopsy results found that the cause of death of the 19-year-old victim was multiple stab wounds to the chest. – Bernama
