Fix Pasir Gudang hospital staffing, equipment issues now, says Johor Regent

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Staffing and equipment shortages at Hospital Pasir Gudang must be resolved immediately to ensure the facility becomes fully operational without further delay, says Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

While a large portion of services at the hospital have already commenced, he said unresolved manpower and equipment issues should not hold back its full operations.

“The healthcare sector is critical and cannot be postponed.

“I want the full operations of Hospital Pasir Gudang to be expedited, and all staffing and equipment issues resolved without delay,” he said when opening the Johor State Assembly sitting on Thursday (April 30).

The Regent noted that various initiatives had been introduced to improve healthcare delivery in Johor, including upgrading facilities, implementing digital systems and adopting innovative approaches such as the decanting method to reduce congestion.

He said these measures have helped improve patient experience and comfort across healthcare facilities in the state.

Tunku Ismail also commended Hospital Sultanah Aminah for being recognised as one of the World’s Best Hospitals 2026.

He said the achievement reflected the combined efforts of the state and Federal governments to strengthen the quality of healthcare services, facilities, and system efficiency in Johor.

“I am confident this recognition is the result of continuous efforts to enhance the healthcare system, which is now on the right track,” he added.
