Gerik police arrest man over alleged sexual harassment


IPOH: The police have arrested a 55-year-old man accused of sexually harassing a supermarket staff member in Gerik.

Gerik OCPD Superintendent Abdul Samad Othman said in a statement on Friday (April 24) that the incident happened in front of a 25-year-old female staff member at the supermarket on Thursday (April 23) at about 3.30pm.

Supt Abdul Samad said the woman lodged a report about the incident at about 5.55pm.

"We will get a remand order for the man to facilitate investigations under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act for insulting modesty by indecent gestures in public," he said.
