Terengganu state assembly re-elects Hussin Ismail as Senator

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu State Legislative Assembly has re-elected the founder and president of Yayasan Amal Malaysia, Hussin Ismail, as a member of the Dewan Negara representing the state.

The appointment was proposed by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and received unanimous support from all assemblymen present during the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Terengganu State Legislative Assembly at Wisma Darul Iman here on Thursday (April 23).

“Based on his extensive experience, consistent service record, and contributions across various fields, I respectfully nominate Yang Berbahagia Haji Hussin bin Ismail as Terengganu’s representative to the Dewan Negara.

“This is to ensure the state’s voice continues to be heard at the federal level and to strengthen the country's legislative role with full responsibility and integrity,” Ahmad Samsuri said when tabling the motion.

Hussin, 71, was previously elected as a Senator representing Terengganu on March 15, 2023.

Hailing from Kampung Tebakang near Bukit Payong in Marang, he pursued his studies in agriculture at Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, which laid the foundation for his early career and community development involvement.

Hussin, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kemaman Supply Base Sdn Bhd, remains active in various community, educational, missionary, humanitarian, and social programmes both locally and internationally.

The father of nine has led humanitarian and disaster relief missions to over 40 countries and was named the Terengganu State Tokoh Maal Hijrah in 2020. – Bernama
