ALOR GAJAH: Machap Jaya assemblyman Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem said livestock and a pet are among the grand prizes for the closing event of the “Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat” programme in his constituency.
Ngwe said the prizes will be given during the closing ceremony and lucky draw on Saturday (April 25). He said the prizes include a cow, a goat and a pedigree cat.
“We chose livestock instead of electrical goods and other common items as prizes because the choice fits local community needs,” he said.
Ngwe said the programme began on April 19.
He said the programme aimed to position Machap Jaya as a recreational and cultural tourism site in the state.
Ngwe, who is also the state Health, Human Resources and Unity Committee chairman, said the programme included 98 activities.
“Orang Asli participation helped build closer ties with the wider community, support unity and encourage stronger involvement,” he said.
He said the programme also gave residents a way to raise local issues.
Ngwe said residents raised complaints about damaged roads, overgrown road shoulders, cleanliness and drainage.
“The complaints would be reviewed before any action is taken,” he said.
