Let police probe fatal crash involving armed forces officer, says Defence Minister

KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Ministry says the police should be allowed to investigate the fatal accident allegedly caused by a drunk member of the Armed Forces.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the authorities must be given room to investigate the matter.

“Even though it involved the military, let the police carry out their investigations,” he told a press conference on Thursday (April 23).

Earlier on Thursday, a 31-year-old military officer, allegedly driving under the influence, killed one person and injured two others in a road collision at KM1.9 of the Maju Expressway (MEX).

In a statement on the same day, Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said a breathalyser test found that the driver had exceeded the permitted alcohol limit.
