SEREMBAN: Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir has reminded those holding high office in the state to ensure that all decisions and actions are based on a thorough evaluation of facts and relevant information.
His Royal Highness said all actions and decisions must be guided by established rules and laws.
"I wish to raise a matter of great importance to Negeri Sembilan and to me personally. This matter is directed particularly to individuals who have been entrusted with high positions, which come with significant responsibilities and obligations.
"Decisions or actions must never be influenced solely by personal desires or emotions. Failure to adhere to these principles may undermine administrative integrity as well as the well-being of the state," he said in his royal address when gracing the opening of the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th State Legislative Assembly at Wisma Negeri, here Thursday (April 23).
Also in attendance was the Tunku Ampuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud.
To the public, Tuanku Muhriz also urged that any comments or opinions on issues be made with a strong sense of responsibility and a thorough understanding.
"Do not be quick to believe or disseminate information without proper investigation and verification. Rash and irresponsible dissemination of information may have adverse effects on society and the state," he said.
In addressing global economic challenges, His Royal Highness said the state government must remain focused on implementing projects that deliver tangible benefits to the people.
All leaders, he said, share the responsibility of guiding the state towards unity, prosperity and wellbeing.
"Remember that every action and decision is observed by the people, and in today's borderless digital world, everything you do is easily known," he said.
Tuanku Muhriz further advised all state assemblymen to conduct debates in a rational and intellectual manner, ensuring that arguments presented are constructive and aimed at addressing the people's concerns.
They were also reminded to uphold, protect and defend the Federal Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Negeri Sembilan, as well as to adhere to the Standing Orders throughout the proceedings. – BERNAMA
