Moderate 5.9-magnitude quake hits Northern Sumatra


KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 struck Northern Sumatra, Indonesia, at 4.06am on Sunday (April 19).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said in a statement that the quake, at a depth of 18km, occurred 67km west of Nias, Indonesia.

However, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia. – Bernama
