Welfare dept seeks mother of toddler believed neglected in Kepala Batas

KEPALA BATAS: The Social Welfare Department of Seberang Perai Utara is seeking to trace the biological mother and relatives of a three-year-six-month-old girl believed to be a victim of neglect.

In a statement, the office said the child, identified as Amanda Mikayla Abdullah, was reportedly left by her biological mother with a caretaker known as Layla Yamna Abdul Hajar without any identification documents.

"Investigations found that the child's biological mother, Nurul Izzati Mohamad A'sri, 29, cannot be contacted and has yet to be located.

"The mother's last known address was in Yan, Kedah, and she is believed to be working in Penang," the statement said on Friday (April 17).

Members of the public with information on the child's biological mother or relatives are urged to come forward by contacting SPU District Child Protector Norpatin Bakar at 04-5758715 or 04-5758716, or via email at norpatin@jkm.gov.my. – Bernama
