Motorist burnt to death in Miri crash

MIRI: A 40-year-old man was burnt to death after the sports car he was driving collided with a lorry along the Jalan Miri Bypass on Friday (April 17).

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department reported that both vehicles were destroyed by the resulting fire.

The department received a distress call at 9.30am to inform it that two vehicles had burst into flames following a collision.

"The driver of the car was still inside his vehicle while the fire was raging.

"Firefighters used water from the fire engine to extinguish the blaze.

"Another lorry was also used to tow the lorry away from the fire," it said in a statement.

It added that the victim's body was handed over to the police for further action while the lorry drive was unhurt.
