Roger Chin launches service centre to address urban issues

KOTA KINABALU: Independent-nominated assemblyman Datuk Roger Chin set up a service centre on Thursday (April 16).

Chin said the centre would not act as a complaints counter or welfare office but as a platform to find recurring issues in urban areas.

The centre would focus on work with businesses and professionals,” he said.

Chin said the centre would also work with non-governmental and civil society groups on public-interest initiatives, including environmental resilience, mental health, employability, and statelessness, with support limited to pilot projects and policy facilitation.

He said Sentuhan Funds would be used sparingly for feasibility studies, data gathering, and pilot programmes, and not for routine welfare or operating costs.

Chin said the centre would address cross-district issues such as regulatory congestion, public transport failures, and utility coordination problems, and would complement elected representatives by focusing on cross-cutting issues that he said could not be resolved through constituency-level action alone.

He said the service centre was located at Lot 2, 1st Floor, Bangunan Seri Damai, Lorong Nibung 1A in Luyang and would operate by appointment or through engagements coordinated by Alvis Loo at 010-650 9688.
