Ops Guardian: 21 nabbed in 172 inspections in Pahang


KUANTAN: A total of 21 arrests were made as a result of 172 inspections in Ops Guardian during its two-day implementation starting Wednesday (April 15), focusing on the area from the waters of Muara Kuantan to Sungai Tembeling.

Pahang state security director of the National Security Council) Safrul Faiz Ab Satar said that of the total, 18 arrests were made by the Immigration Department for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Passport Act 1966.

"Three more arrests were made by the National Anti-Drug Agency involving three men who tested positive for drugs and are being investigated under Section 3(1) and Section 6(2)(d) of the Drug Addicts (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983," he told reporters after the closing ceremony of Op Guardian No. 1/2026 at the Pahang Fisheries Department Complex Fishing Jetty here, on Thursday (April 16).

In the same operation, he said the Customs Department also seized various brands of liquor estimated to be worth RM2,000 under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967 and Section 32(10) of the Excise Act 1967.

In addition, Safrul Faiz said the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living issued eight notices under Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

He said the Manpower Department issued an F Summons against an employer under the Employment Act 1955 and reviewed the approval of the placement of foreign workers against an employer under the Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodation and Workers' Facilities Act 1990.

Meanwhile, he said the integrated operation coordinated by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency involved 11 agencies, involving a total strength of 85 officers and personnel. – Bernama
