KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Cooperative Commission has reappointed Lt Gen (Rtd) Datuk Ahmad Norihan Jalal as its chairman, effective Wednesday (April 15).
The commission said in a statement that the appointment is expected to strengthen its leading role in developing the national cooperative movement to empower the sector as a driver of inclusive, sustainable and competitive economic growth.
"This appointment also reflects the commission's continued commitment to ensuring that the cooperative development agenda is driven strategically, progressively and in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani," the statement said.
The commission said it will continue strengthening governance, enhancing service delivery efficiency and expanding the impact of the cooperative movement to the people.
"SKM also expressed confidence that the cooperative movement under Ahmad Norihan's leadership will continue to grow, remain resilient and be able to contribute significantly to the nation's socioeconomic development," it added. - Bernama
