SOC: E-mail service intact, no breach detected

PUTRAJAYA: The National Digital Department’s Security Operations Centre (SOC) has confirmed that the integrity of the MyGovUC 3.0 e-mail service remains intact and no cybersecurity breach was detected following a data-display disruption on Monday.

The department said the disruption, detected on April 6, has been addressed with immediate recovery measures.

It added that it was currently carrying out a phased recovery process for all affected civil servant e-mail accounts, with full restoration targeted by April 13.

“The issue involved random data display in the Inbox and Sent folders for some users, caused by a configuration error in data retention and recovery policies,” the department said in a statement yesterday.

The recovery process is being implemented according to established procedures to ensure smooth operations, accuracy and user data security.

“This recovery effort aligns with the government’s commitment to ensuring communication services continue to operate at an optimal level, while upholding the principles of transparency and accountability among public officials,” it added, Bernama reported.

The National Digital Department also expressed appreciation for users’ patience during the recovery period and said it will continue strengthening government digital systems to ensure more effective, secure and trustworthy public services.

MyGovUC 3.0 is an integrated communication and collaboration service centrally managed by the National Digital Department.
