Operator’s licence revoked after fatal Segamat crash

JOHOR BARU: The Land Public Transport Agency has revoked the operator’s licence from a transportation company linked to an incident in which a trailer collided with a van, resulting in three fatalities at the Taman Golden Hill intersection in Gemas Baharu, near Segamat, on April 2.

In a statement, the agency said its Suspension and Licence Revocation Committee No. 3 (Year 2026), decided that MFG Barokah Enterprise LA had failed to meet licence requirements under Section 57(1)(b)(viii), Section 58(1)(b) and Section 58(1)(c) of Act 715.

The investigation found that the company failed to comply with Article 30 of the Service Level Requirements, including adherence to the Industrial Code of Practice for Safety, and also failed to ensure that its vehicles were properly maintained.

The company was also found to have failed to control and monitor the behaviour of its drivers, who did not prioritise the safety of other road users and had a history of speeding violations.

“In this regard, in accordance with the powers under Section 62 of Act 715, the agency has decided to revoke Operator Licence 202303040540 (of the company concerned) effective today,” the statement read in a Bernama report.

The agency said that with the revocation, the company is no longer allowed to operate or provide any services using vehicles licensed under the operator’s licence.

It also emphasised that all licensed operators must comply with licence conditions set from time to time to avoid incidents that could lead to revocation.

The agency said it remains committed to ensuring a holistic, efficient, effective, safe and competitive land public transport system for the benefit of the people, in line with the principles of Malaysia Madani, which emphasise welfare and compassion.

In the accident, three people, including a married couple, were killed, while two others were injured after a trailer collided with the rear of the van they were travelling in.

On Tuesday, the trailer driver involved in the accident was charged at the Segamat Magistrate’s Court.
