Corporate mafia case: MACC was not involved in the initial investigation, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: There has been no involvement of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in the initial investigations into allegations of a "corporate mafia", says Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.

He said investigations are, however, ongoing following instructions received by the police.

"The instruction I received is to continue investigations into the corporate mafia," he said at a press conference at Bukit Aman on Friday (April 10).

Mohd Khalid said several individuals have been identified, including those both within and outside the country.

"There are several individuals who need to be called in to assist with investigations," he said.

He added that cases involving individuals overseas would require cooperation at both government-to-government (G2G) and agency-to-agency levels.

Mohd Khalid also cautioned against making baseless allegations regarding the existence of a "corporate mafia".

"Such allegations should have their limits," he said.
