CORPORATIONS and industry players show appreciation for the media in many ways, recognising their vital contributions to disseminating corporate initiatives, shaping public understanding and ensuring organisational stories reach the right audiences.

In recognition of this ongoing support, award-winning developer, LBS Bina Group Bhd organised its inaugural Media Appreciation Trip – a gesture of gratitude aimed at strengthening relationships with the media community.

The appreciation event brought 18 media representatives from various publications, platforms and coverage sections to Bilut Hills Eco Resort in Tras, Pahang, a serene eco-tourism retreat known for its harmonious integration with nature. Built with sustainability at its core, the resort features eco-friendly accommodations set against a lush backdrop of hills and a tropical orchard which includes pomelos, papayas and durians. The calm environment offered guests a refreshing change from their diverse professional routines, whether they work in print, digital, visual, lifestyle, business, or entertainment segments.

The resort provides a variety of facilities designed to help guests unwind or explore at their leisure. Among them are a Balinese-inspired infinity pool, private karaoke rooms at the Sky Pavilion, a Sky Lounge and a Sky Patio offering panoramic mountain views – amenities thoughtfully designed for relaxation and scenic appreciation.

Lively and fun

The two-day getaway kicked off on April 4 with a welcoming buffet dinner at Sky Pavilion. Media members mingled over a spread of hearty dishes while soaking up the resort's tranquil evening air. However, the true highlight of the night was the "Karaoke Fiesta", an electrifying and highly anticipated showdown that saw media practitioners swap their gear for microphones.

The competition reached a fever pitch in the group category as four spirited teams took to the stage. Team 1 charmed the audience with Westlife’s “My Love”, while Team 2 delivered an entertaining rendition of “Gadis Dan Bunga” by Rahimah Rahim. Team 3 kept the energy high with Freedom’s “Mulanya Di Sini” and Team 4 closed the set with the iconic “Standing in the Eyes of the World” by Ella. Ultimately, Team 2 stole the show, clinching the championship title and RM400 in Watsons vouchers for their teamwork. Team 2 comprised BusinessToday deputy editor Abdul Rahman Khairuddin, Bernama reporter Puti Iylia Maisarah Zol Azman, Sinar Harian chief reporter Mohd Hafiz Ismail and The Star assistant editor M.Mageswari.

The excitement peaked during the solo competition, where eight talented representatives battled for individual glory. In an impressive sweep, Abdul Rahman emerged as the solo champion for his rendition of Michael Buble’s “Sway”. He took home a pressure cooker and a two-day, one-night stay at Bilut Hills Eco Resort’s Presidential Suite (worth RM1,000) in recognition of his lively performance.

Thrills and flavours

The next morning began with a hearty breakfast before media participants embarked on their chosen outdoor activities. Each representative selected two adventures from an exciting lineup: Flying Fox, Archery, Bouldering and ATV riding. The combination of adrenaline and scenic surroundings made the experience particularly memorable as participants challenged themselves, cheered one another on and bonded over shared excitement.

No visit to the resort would be complete without embracing its famed Durian Farm Stay experience. Media guests were treated to a Musang King durian feast straight from the orchard - a fresh, flavourful and truly Malaysian farm-to-table indulgence.

After a final lunch together, the group concluded the trip on a warm note, parting ways with new memories and deeper connections.

Warm reflections

Abdul Rahman shared how meaningful the experience was for him and his peers, describing it as a “healing weekend.”

”We experienced nature and enjoyed ourselves outside of our usual working hours.

“We return to work on Monday with full energy after having such a good rest,” he said, while expressing his hope for further collaborations with LBS Bina in future tourism activities or corporate initiatives.

Vanakkam Malaysia visual editor Sri Abhirami Munisamy, echoed these sentiments, recalling how every activity brought a new thrill. “Whether it was exploring hidden spots or simply enjoying the beauty of nature all around us, it was unforgettable.

“Everyone brought their own stories, creativity and humour, making every conversation engaging and every shared moment more meaningful,” she said, adding that she especially enjoyed bonding with media friends over the Musang King durian feast.

Kwong Wah Yit Poh assistant features editor Lau Yin Ling described the trip as a revitalising nature getaway. “It was truly a relaxing and refreshing escape, allowing us to unwind and reconnect with nature away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The experience was filled with joy and laughter.

“I already find myself missing everyone’s cheerful voices, the songs we shared and even the excited screams during our adventures. It was a memorable trip that I will cherish for a long time.”

Strengthening bonds

“We truly appreciate the invaluable contributions of our media partners and deeply understand their role as a vital bridge in delivering our corporate information to the wider audience,” said LBS corporate communication head Norazian Abdul Aziz.

“This trip was intentionally designed in a relaxed setting to foster closer relationships and strengthen our rapport,” she added.

LBS executive director Datuk Cynthia Lim said, “The unwavering support from the media has been instrumental in LBS’ continued success, including its recognition as one of the Best Managed Companies for four consecutive years.”

She added: “Sincere thanks to all media friends for joining our media appreciation trip. We truly appreciate your time, presence and continued support.”

LBS remains committed to fostering strong and meaningful relationships with its media partners and looks forward to continued collaboration in the years ahead.
