30 left homeless as fire razes five houses in Kampung Chabang Tiga

KOTA BARU: Some 30 residents were left with only the clothes on their backs after a fire in Kampung Chabang Tiga, Kedai Buloh, here on Friday (April 3) night destroyed five houses.

In the 9.45pm incident, three other houses sustained approximately 10% structural damage each.

Victim Nor Lilis Zaidi, 23, said she was away during the incident and only learnt of the fire after a neighbour alerted her.

"My father, Zaidi Abdullah, and I were not at home at the time. As soon as I received the call, I rushed back, but I could not save any belongings as the flames had already spread rapidly.

"I am now staying at my mother's house in Kampung Kijang because everything we owned was destroyed," she told reporters when met here Saturday (April 4).

Her elder sister, Norly Atira, 28, who lives in Melaka, said she rushed back to Kelantan and was devastated to see her family home destroyed.

The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) is currently investigating the cause of the blaze and the total losses involved. - Bernama
