KOTA KINABALU: A man suspected of involvement in a series of robberies around Penampang and Putatan has been arrested.
The 45-year-old was also found with allegedly stolen gold bracelets worth around RM50,000, police said.
Penampang OCPD Supt Sammy Newton said the suspect was detained near a commercial building in the city at around 1pm on Tuesday (March 31), following leads from sources.
"We found six pieces of gold jewellery on the suspect, and also confiscated a car and mobile phone, among other things, to facilitate investigations," he said in a statement on Thursday (April 2).

He said the suspect was found to have several past convictions for property crimes and drug abuse.
Supt Sammy said the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft within a building, which carries a jail sentence of up to 10 years with a fine, and caning for repeat offenders, upon conviction.
He urged the public to continue being the eyes and ears of the police force by reporting any suspicious or criminal activities for immediate action.
