Driver rams multiple vehicles in wild police chase at KLIA

PETALING JAYA: A local man was arrested after ramming multiple vehicles while attempting to evade the police at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Monday (March 30).

KLIA OCPD Asst Comm Ravi Munusamy said the incident occurred at about 4.30pm when a police mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) conducting crime prevention rounds in the KLIA area attempted to stop a car for inspection.

“However, the driver refused to comply and sped off towards the Level 3 terminal route at KLIA.

“In an attempt to escape, the suspect rammed into five civilian vehicles along the road before he was eventually apprehended nearby,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (March 31).

He added that checks revealed the suspect, a 30-year-old local man, has 31 prior criminal charges and one outstanding drug-related offence.

The case is being investigated under Sections 186 and 427 of the Penal Code, Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, and several traffic-related offences.

“The suspect will be brought before the Sepang Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for a remand application,” he said.
