KL areas hit by fallen trees due to storms

KUALA LUMPUR: At least six locations across the city were affected by fallen trees following heavy rain and thunderstorms on Monday (March 30).

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said it received multiple emergency calls between 3pm and 5.30pm.

The affected areas were Jalan Akar, Perdana Botanical Gardens, Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuchai Lama Flats, SK Padang Tembak and Jalan Desa Jaya.

“Fire and Rescue teams were deployed to the locations to carry out clearing works, cut fallen trees and ensure public safety,” it said in a statement.

Several vehicles were damaged after being struck by the fallen trees, but no injuries were reported.

The department said the situation has been brought under control, with cleanup operations carried out promptly at all affected locations.

It added that personnel remain on standby as adverse weather is expected to continue.

“So far, no reports of flash floods have been received,” it said.
