TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Tehran is seeking a 'complete' end to the ongoing war with the United States and Israel and aims to ensure security and peace in the Middle East.
Pezeshkian made the remarks during a phone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Xinhua news agency reported.
The two leaders discussed regional and international developments following recent escalations involving Israel and the United States, according to a statement on the president's website.
Pezeshkian also praised the Malaysian government and people for their 'valuable' principled stance in condemning what he described as the 'unlawful and inhumane' attacks on Iran, Xinhua reported.
"We seek a complete end to the war and security and peace in the region," he said.
Bernama reported that Malaysia strongly condemned Israel's attack on Iran, supported by the United States and stressed that any act targeting civilians is a clear violation of international law.
Anwar said Malaysia also extended condolences to the people of Iran over the loss of senior leadership figures and innocent lives.
He noted Iran's readiness to negotiate on the condition of a definitive end to the war and stressed that peace efforts must be grounded in justice, accountability and sustained commitment.
"Malaysia believes that lasting peace requires a comprehensive resolution to ensure the security of all parties and restore human dignity in the Middle East," Anwar said. – Bernama.
