Beach find leads to drug haul


IPOH: About RM1mil worth of drugs were discovered at Pasir Bogak Beach in Pangkor.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the drugs, believed to be ketamine, were found in a gunny sack at the beach after a tip-off from the public at about 9pm on Wednes­day.

“The sack contained 20,200g of drugs in 20 plastic packages.

“The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dange­rous Drugs Act,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Comm Noor Hisam said those convicted of possessing drugs could face the death sentence or life imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the cane.

He added that those with information about drugs can call the police narcotics hotline at 012-208 7222.
