Four of 30 missing urns found

SEREMBAN: Four of the 30 cremation urns reported stolen from niches at a local memorial park in Nilai a month ago have been found, say the police.

Nilai OCPD Supt Johari Yahya said police have also recorded statements from 10 individuals related to the case.

“We are not ruling out anything, including an inside job We’re still in touch with the memorial park’s management, and the investigation is in its early stages,” he said.

Police received a report on the theft from the management on Feb 26.

Those behind the heist had contacted the park’s management for a ransom.

One caller made a call on WhatsApp using a foreign number, claiming that he had found the urns before demanding payment for their return.

Asked if the Nilai case was related to another case in Kulai, Johor, where intruders allegedly broke into a memorial park and made off with 22 urns on March 6, Supt Johari said the matter is still being probed.
