Kedah Sultan hosts Hari Raya open house at palace

ALOR SETAR: Before enjoying a sumptuous traditional Malay feast, the Sultan of Kedah, Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, graced the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Istana Anak Bukit here.

The reception at Balai Santapan Besar yesterday came with finely prepared ketupat, lemang, rendang, chicken curry, fish head curry and a dazzling variety of kuih.

In attendance were the Sultanah of Kedah, Sultanah Maliha Tengku Ariff; the Raja Muda of Kedah, Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Sultan Sallehuddin; and other members of the royal family.

Also present were Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and his wife Tok Puan Jusmalailani Jusoh, state secretary Datuk Seri Norizan Khazali, members of the state executive council and invited state civil servants.

The Sultan arrived at Balai Santapan Besar at about 11.30am together with members of the royal family, accompanied by Sanusi and Norizan.

Earlier, the Sultan and members of the royal family graced the ceremony before proceeding to Balai Santapan Besar for the royal luncheon with attending civil servants.

After the luncheon, the Sultan and members of the royal family interacted with those in ­attendance, followed by the presentation of Hari Raya contributions (duit raya) to invited guests as a gesture of appreciation and goodwill.

The celebration was also attended by senior officers serving at both the state and federal levels, as well as local media practitioners.

The event ended at about 1.30pm.
