ALOR SETAR: A man believed to be the leader of the "Rames Gang”, which is allegedly involved in organised crime activities, was charged at the Sessions Court here on Tuesday (June 2).
G. Ramesh, 37, was accused of being a member of an organised criminal group in Kampung Sungai Division, Kuala Muda, between January 2024 and Dec 4 last year.

The charge was brought under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between five and 20 years upon conviction.
Ramesh nodded to indicate he understood the charge when it was read before judge Sharmila Abdul Samad. However, no plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

It was reported previously that a suspected gang leader was arrested under Ops Tiga on May 22 through cooperation between the Indian and Thai authorities.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk M. Kumar was quoted as saying that the suspect was arrested on a flight from Bangkok to Hyderabad, and would be brought back to Malaysia. – Bernama
