Two injured in Sungai Petani house fire


SUNGAI PETANI: A fire broke out in a home in Kampung Bukit, Sungai Pasir, near here on Tuesday (March 24), leaving two women injured.

Tikam Batu Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander Assistant Superintendent Fauzi Shuib said the department received a call about the incident at 11.51am.

"Eleven firefighters from the Tikam Batu and Sungai Petani Fire and Rescue Stations were dispatched to the scene, assisted by the Bakar Arang and Sungai Petani Volunteer Fire Brigades,” he said in a statement.

Fauzi said the blaze, which damaged about 90 per cent of the house, left a woman in her 40s with first-degree burns on both legs and another in her 50s with breathing difficulties.

"The victims were given initial treatment at the scene before being taken to the hospital.

“The fire was brought under control at 1.10pm and the operation ended at 3.07pm,” he added. – Bernama
