A MAN often spotted panhandling outside a bank in Rahang, Seremban, allegedly spent donation money on women, reported China Press.

The beggar was said to be telling passers-by that his parents were ill and urgently needed money to settle medical bills.

However, an Internet user recently took a photo of the man behaving intimately with a woman at a hawker centre in Jalan Lee Sam – a stark contrast to the sob story he tried to sell.

Officers from the Welfare Department visited the man’s home and found that both of his parents were in good health.

The department has instructed the man to stop begging and misleading the public.

> A Taiwanese court lengthened a social media influencer’s prison term for filming prank videos at supermarkets, saying the earlier sentence was too lenient, reported Oriental Daily.

The influencer, known as James Dai, filmed himself opening up food items, partially consuming them, before placing them back on the shelves at two supermarkets in Taichung city between November 2023 and January 2024.

While Dai eventually paid for the items, footage of the payment never appeared in his videos.

This is said to have misled viewers into believing that they could freely open and consume products in stores without paying.

Prosecutors charged Dai for damaging commercial credibility, to which he pleaded guilty and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. He was also given a two-year probation.

However, prosecutors argued that the sentence was too light as Dai, aware of his significant following, still posted misleading content to gain attention.

The Taichung High Court subsequently ruled that the original sentence was too lenient and increased his prison term to eight months. His probation was also revoked.
