Crocodile victim’s body found in river


KOTA KINABALU: The body of a man, who was attacked by a crocodile while prawn netting with his father in Kinabatangan, has been found.

The victim, identified as Mohd Rayyan Abdullah, 28, was found floating about 500m from where he was last seen at 10am yesterday.

Kinabatangan Fire Station chief Hairi Otuh said the victim’s mangled body was discovered by rescuers and villagers.

“The body was retrieved from the river and handed over to police for further action,” he said when contacted.

In the Tuesday incident, Mohd Rayyan was out catching prawns with his father at Kg Segaliud when the crocodile lunged at him and dragged him into the river.

It is learnt that his father tried to help but the reptile was too strong.

An emergency call was made at 8.22pm and a search was ­immediately mounted.
