Minister to seek input on rising oil prices

HULU LANGAT: Views and advice from the Finance and Economy Ministries will be sought to devise a strategy to address the impact of rising global oil prices on the country’s food sector, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

The Agriculture and Food Security Minister said although the country’s food import logistics routes are not directly affected by the current conflict in the Middle East, the uncertainty of world oil prices still have an impact on the chain in the coming months.

“We will listen to the advice and views in formulating a strategy,” he told reporters at an event here, Bernama reported.

On another matter, Mohamad said the government would looking into channelling plant seeds to support the people’s self-sufficiency practices.

“This is not a panic situation. It is a normal practice so that the existing flower plants can be changed to vegetable plants. This is so that we can be self-sufficient,” he said.
