Driver killed after car skids into opposite lane in Kluang crash


KLUANG: A 60-year-old man was killed after the car he was driving skidded into the opposite lane and collided with another vehicle at KM68.3 on Jalan Batu Pahat–Mersing here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the accident occurred at about 3pm on Friday (May 1) and involved two cars.

He said initial investigations found that the victim was driving from Kluang town towards Mersing when he lost control of the vehicle due to wet road conditions.

“The car veered into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming Perodua Bezza.

“As a result of the collision, the deceased sustained severe chest injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said here on Saturday (May 2).

ACP Bahrin added that the 48-year-old driver of the other car, his 46-year-old wife, their 20-year-old daughter and his 73-year-old mother-in-law were injured in the crash.

“All four victims are currently receiving treatment at Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital here,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

ACP Bahrin also advised road users to exercise caution and be considerate while driving to avoid accidents.
