Technician gets 18 years’ jail for child sexual abuse


JOHOR BARU: An airport technician was jailed for 18 years and ordered caned 24 times after pleading guilty to 10 charges involving child trafficking, sexual abuse and production of child sexual abuse material.

Muhammad Imran Abdullah, 30, pleaded guilty to the charges before judges Mohd Zamir Suhaimee, Madinah Zainol and Nor Aziati Jaafar at three separate Sessions Courts here yesterday.

In the first court, Muhammad Imran, a technician at an airport in Singapore, was charged with trafficking three babies aged between five days and seven months.

Muhammad Imran was charged under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 for the offences.

Mohd Zamir sentenced the accused to 15 years’ imprisonment for each charge, to run concurrently.

In the second court, Muhammad Imran was charged with two counts of sexually assaulting a five-year-old child.

He was also charged with ­producing child sexual abuse material by recording a video of the victim during the act.

He was charged under Section 5, Section 14(a) and Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

Madinah sentenced him to a total of 10 years in jail and 12 strokes of the rotan for the offences.

In another court, Muhammad Imran also faced two charges under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act for sexually assaulting two children aged between six and seven.

He was also charged under Section 5 of the same Act for ­producing child sexual abuse material by recording videos of the two children.

Nor Aziati sentenced him to a total of 18 years in jail and 12 strokes of the rotan for the offences.
